Frances Elizabeth Allen  

(Estats Units, 1932)

Va començar a treballar l’any 1957 a la secció de recerca d’IBM, on va ser pionera en el camp de l’automatització de tasques paral·leles. La companyia va reconèixer el seu treball nomenant-la IBM Fellow el 1989. Va ser la primera dona a aconseguir-ho. El 2006 Allen es va convertir en la primera dona guanyadora del Premi Turing de l’Associació per a la Maquinària Computacional (considerat el Nobel de les Ciències de la Computació), per les seves contribucions al rendiment dels programes de computador, que van accelerar l’ús de sistemes de computació d’alt rendiment.
